Health Care for Israel Gap Year, Yeshiva, Seminary, and College Students

Parents of Gap Year Students in Israel:
Did you know that most Gap Year Programs have no medical personnel?  Health Care for Israel Gap Year students is complicated. Nearly every program requires that students have health insurance, but this coverage leaves parents and Gap Year Programs wanting.

    • Health Insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions
    • For pre-existing conditions, parents and students must fend for themselves and find providers and solutions to the student’s needs
    • Health Insurance pays for health coverage, but no one monitors the quality of service provided.
    • If your child gets sick or suffers an acute injury (like a sprained ankle), he or she may end up at the emergency room or doctor’s office alone, with a friend, or perhaps with a counselor – none of whom are qualified to advocate for optimal care for your child.
    • The Israeli health culture is vastly different than yours, and this may affect the medical care your child receives.
    • As parents, your point of contact when your child is unwell is the school administrator, who does not have the medical background to assure that your child is getting the best care
    • Food allergy sufferers may find that Israel is culturally not an easy place to live with certain food allergies and there is no service to assist students with accommodations.

…UNTIL NOW.

EMA Care is the first health service company to provide medical concierge, case management, and health advocacy services for Gap Year Students. EMA Care also has a full range of services for food allergy sufferers.

    • EMA Care professionals are available to attend routine or urgent appointments - even emergency rooms with your child throughout the country.
    • EMA Care acts as a professional health liaison between the student, parents, health providers, and school administrators to assist with optimal communication.
    • EMA Care monitors the quality of care provided, refers students to top specialists, and provides education about prevention and health maintenance.
    • EMA Care is the point of contact for parents regarding their child’s well-being and care.
    • EMA Care has a full range of food allergy options, from professionally translated  allergy cards to supervision of food production.

Recommended by an Infectious Disease Specialist

My experience with Ema Care has been so positive that I wanted to share it in case it could help someone else. Eight days ago my daughter, a Shanah Bet student, called to say she wasn’t feeling well and had symptoms of Covid-19. I was put in touch with an Infectious Disease specialist who recommended Ema Care. I reached Dr. Eliana Aaron easily and signed my daughter up. The next morning, Ema Care gave my daughter a telehealth exam and provided her with prescriptions, as well as a list of
