Indoor Activities for the lockdown and winter

Today, (December 27th, 2020) the third offical lockdown is starting. For many people this means finding activities for their kids, homeshooling, and finding ways to enjoy the Holidays and newyears.

Every winter (regardless of the Coronavirus or the lockdown), people tend to stay home and not go outside because of the cold weather. While many people prefer the summer when they can go outside and enjoy the fresh air, winter has many benefits. Winter can be a very warm and happy time of the year. Many families snuggle up with sweaters and blankets while drinking hot cocoa and watching a nice family movie. This is also a great time for people to reach out to friends, develop their hobbies, do many arts and crafts, and even save up for a nice summer vacation. Here are some great indoor activities that will get you through the lockdown:

Develop your hobbies and learn new things

Winter is a great time to develop your hobbies and even create new ones. Many people have hobbies such as writing, drawing, sketching, and cooking. The winter is a great time to develop these hobbies and sink into them! This is a great way to pass the time while indoors, and when the winter/lockdown is over you can feel a sense of accomplishment from the winter.

Many people also want to develop many new hobbies that they can continue into the summer and throughout the whole year.

  • Knitting or Crocheting – knitting and crocheting is a great hobby that allows one to relax, be creative, and get a cute scarf or sweater out of it. Knitting is known to be very relaxing and can reduce anxiety. Many women knit while they watch a movie or listen to music. Knitting can also give you a sense of achievement which is good against depression.
  • Experimenting in the kitchen – Making new kinds of food and experimenting can be very fun and delicious! Many yummy winter recipes are easy to make and will warm everyone up! You can try to make soups, cakes, cookies, stews, and more! The result is learning to make new food and getting a delicious snack!
  • Arts & Crafts – Many people do arts and crafts occasionally during the year, winter is a great time to make some beautiful works of art that you can display around your home all year round. Many people buy paint and canvas to paint. This is great activity for families with children who are stuck at home!

  • Scrapbooking – Mostly likely you have a lot of pictures of your children and pets in cool places. Scrapbooking is a great way to make a creative album of all of these pictures. You can decorate the pages with lace, stickers, decorations, and cool cutouts. This is a fun activity for a family with children to do together.
  • Puzzles and Games – puzzles and other games are a great way to spend quality time with your family. Many companies deliver puzzles all over the country and this is a great way to spend time with family while also creating a beautiful puzzle. Many people even glue the puzzles together and frame them – this is a great way to display your work!

Although no one likes lockdowns, you can find many new ways to develop your hobbies, spend quality time with your family, and entertain yourself!!

Recommended by an Infectious Disease Specialist

My experience with Ema Care has been so positive that I wanted to share it in case it could help someone else. Eight days ago my daughter, a Shanah Bet student, called to say she wasn’t feeling well and had symptoms of Covid-19. I was put in touch with an Infectious Disease specialist who recommended Ema Care. I reached Dr. Eliana Aaron easily and signed my daughter up. The next morning, Ema Care gave my daughter a telehealth exam and provided her with prescriptions, as well as a list of
